Gallery Focus : Natural and Handmade
As you tour the gallery, please notice that the interior is finished with a variety of natural materials. The woodwork is whitewashed pine; the main gallery floor is concrete with the exposed aggregate from the bottom of the Ohio River. The old oak showcases from the 1920's and the handmade store counter from the 1890’s were all rescued from an old Boonville barn. The stained glass windows are from abandoned buildings, and even a real streetlight completes the collection.This gallery has been a labor of love, a space I designed and built with the help of my brother, Bruce. It was built to celebrate, in a small way, the joy of using our hands to create something different and beautiful.
Our art and gifts must have the same 'feel'. They must be of natural materials and be made by hand. The character that they possess is just as important as the items themselves.
